STAR Swimmers & Parents,
Like everyone, we try to do our best to make decisions about practice delays/cancellations in a timely manner so that you can plan accordingly. We have two main goals in mind when looking at the weather and deciding what to do about practices. First and foremost is your safety. We don’t cancel as quickly as schools or some other organizations, but want you to always use your best judgment when driving or deciding to come to practice, as conditions can vary greatly from one area to another. Secondly, we want to offer practice whenever possible, so we will try to have practice with as little interruption as possible. But please use good judgment when deciding whether or not to attend.
Please watch for an email from your Site Coach regarding any cancellations or delays for your location. No email means no change. You may also set your account up to send you text updates so that you will receive a text notification when emails are sent out. We will make our best effort to make a decision and send an announcement by 10:00pm the night before for morning practices. For afternoon practices, we will make a decision and announcement a minimum of 2 hours prior to the practice start time. Obviously, if conditions change drastically (especially for morning practices), we may have to make that decision in the morning, so please always check your email before leaving for practice when there is winter weather.
Thanks for your understanding and cooperation in this matter and always feel free to call if you have any questions.
