January meets provide an opportunity to see how the training is going and how the swimmers are doing headed into the February Championship meets. After last weekend’s meet in El Cajon (January 22-24 2016) we can say that CAST is doing well and moving forward.
The meet started Friday evening with a CAST dominated 1650 freestyle. With about a dozen swimmers in the water we recorded best times for Cassidy, Maya, Mitchell, Gavin, Carlson, Taylor M, and Itzel. In addition, Sarah and Morgan swam well moving through the water with comfort and ease.
Over the weekend there were many more best times including: 500 free – Natalie D, Chris, Trinity; 100 fly – Natalie D, Maddie; 100 breast – Chris, Grace, Mitchell; 200 fly – Andrew; 100 back – Andrew, Taylor L, Carlson; 400 IM - Trinity, Mitchell; 200 free – Grace, Taylor L, Gavin; 200 IM – Trinity; 1000 free – Natalie D; and 50 free – Carlson.
In addition there were many times within hundredths of PB times including: Danielle (50 fr) Gillian (200 fr) Morgan (400 IM 50 fr) Chris (50 fr) Cassidy (200 fly) Taylor L (200 fly) Taylor M (100 br 100 bk) Lael (100 bk) Itzel (100 br) Gavin (100 bk) and Carlson (200 fr).
The nice thing about this meet is that it encompassed swimmers of all abilities. It was a pleasure to see our senior swimmers cheer on their teammates and celebrate the many best times, new events and new experiences. Well-done CAST. Let’s get back at it and ready for what lies ahead.
