Things are started to get really busy as we are getting to championship meets and the end of the season. The younger groups continue to work on technique in the water and practicing dives. The older groups are doing a lot of sprint work in the pool working on getting out fast for their races. We have a swim meet almost every weekend and are still waiting on championship meet information to come out. As soon as I get meet info for the championship I will post so please check your emails as they might have quick turn around. With those swimmers that do have Y State, JO and or Michigan State cuts I would like to encourage everyone that has a Y State cut to attend the Y meet then attend either the JO or Michigan State Meet. The more kids that we can have at these meet the more fun for everyone.
Up coming Swim Meets:
January 30 - Harbor Springs: For those that have not attended the Harbor Springs meet I encourage everyone to bring a chair to set in as all the kids and parents hang out in the gym waiting for the opportunity to swim. The pool has limited deck space so many parents hang out in the gym until their swimmers swims and then goes to watch them swim. i would also brings snacks and some things to do to stay entertained. i will email out warmup times as soon as I get them.
February 6-7 Saginaw Meet: Remember that the morning and afternoon sessions are joined together so everyone will be swimming in the morning. Warmups start at 8:00. The university does charge a $5 parking fee each day.
February 12-14 Michigan Open: This is a very full meet so swimmers need to plan on getting to the pool early to get through check in and be able to find a pace to sit together as a team.
February 13 YMCA Cluster Meet: This is the last meet for all swimmers that do not have a Y State cut, JO or Michigan State cut.
February 20-21 Michigan District Meet: This meet has been canceled in favor or the YMCA Cluster Meet
February 27-28 YMCA State Meet: This state meet is a little bit different then the Michigan State meets. Each age group only has one session with the 9-10 year olds Saturday morning, 11-12 year olds Saturday afternoon and 13 and over swimmers Sunday.
Current Y State Qualifiers: Avery, Camryn, Maeve S, Claire, Erin, Ella, Leah, Mally, Sarah, Julia, Paige, Marika, Natalie, Matt, Blake, Grey, Billy and Shad.
Fundraising: The Breakers have an opportunity to raise money that will go straight to the Breakers swim team by doing concessions at the South Y (Boardman Building) on January 30 from 9:00-11:30. Parent Meeting: I would like to thank those parents that took time to do the Y survey and come to the parent meeting. We had a lot of great feedback and are working on ways to make things better. We will be doing another survey at the end of March to see what improvements we have made and still need to work on.
