Our Twelve Aquazot Senior Swimmers Shine at the Jr. National Swim Meet in Ohio!!

Twelve members of the AZOT Senior Team (Chris Wong, Josh Smith, Michael Hauss, Garrett Larson, Jared Namba, Sarah Moss, Casey Duckworth, Aya Fujimura, Angela Lee, Casey Mims, Silken Jones and Morgan Sprosty) competed at Short Course Junior National Championships last week at Ohio State University's McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in Columbus.
Several swimmers turned in best times and competed in some exciting races. Chris Wong swam personal bests in the 200 IM (1:52.36), 400 IM (4:02.31) and 200 fly (1:51.02). On day two of the meet, Chris Wong competed in a swim-off to make it back to finals in the 200 IM. Chris won the swim off by almost a second. After swimming the 200 IM three times that day, Chris set a new AZOT record for the 15/16 Boys with a time of 1:52.36, coming in 27th place overall. Chris also set a new 15/16 Boys AZOT 200 fly record with his time of 1:51.02.
Angela Lee had time drops in the 500 free (5:04.88), 200 IM (2:07.89) and the 400 IM (4:30.63), Michael Hauss dropped 20 seconds in the 1650 free (15:56.51) and Casey Mims swam a personal best in the 200 IM (2:06.12). Casey had the fastest breaststroke split (33.67) out of all 216 girls who swam the 200 IM that day! Garrett Larson swam personal bests in the 200 free (1:44.26), 400 IM (4:08.44) and the 100 breast (59.75). Joshua Smith dropped time in the 100 back (52.90) and Aya Fujimura swam a personal best in the 500 free (5:05.93).
Three AZOT 15/16 Boys Relay records were set: 200 Free Relay (Josh Smith, Chris Wong, Jared Namba, Michael Hauss) with a time of 1:27.70. 400 Free Relay (Josh Smith, Garrett Larson, Chris Wong, Michael Hauss) with a time of 3:09.52. 800 Free Relay (Chris Wong, Michael Hauss, Jared Namba, Josh Smith) with a time of 6:58.64. Congratulations gentlemen!
Top 30 finalists included Silken Jones (17th in the 500 free), Chris Wong (18th in the 200 fly and 27th in the 200 IM) and Casey Mims (13th in the 100 breast and 22nd in the 200 breast). The Girls 400 Medley Relay (Morgan Sprosty, Casey Mims, Aya Fujimura, Silken Jones) placed 8th overall (3:50.38).
