Weekly News (Feb 1-6)

Hello Panthers,

All of our high school swimmers have now returned from the IASAS championships and both teams are carrying medals with them. The boys just narrowly missed the championship gold (bringing home Silver) and the girls fought hard to bring home bronze with 2 less swimmers than every other team. Congratulations to those team members.

Registration is now closed and we currently have 223 active members of the Panther Swim Team. This is the first time we have broken 200 swimmers, so we are so happy to have all these new faces added to our program. Can’t wait to see them training.

Important Notes:

New coaches added to the team:

Because of the addition of the Jr. Panther Cubs and the increase in overall swimmer numbers we have added Coach Sanit, Coach Gibby and Coach Tan to our Coaching Team.

Coach Sanit will be with our Jr. Panther Squads and has been with ISB for almost 2 decades and has even coached our Varsity team in the past.

Coach Gibby will be with our Jr. Panther squads and came to ISB 2 years ago as an Aquatics Specialist during the day. She has many years of coaching experience with both young and older speed swimming teams.

Coach Tan will be taking our Marlins Squad and was a new hire to ISB last year. She specializes in 8 and under swimmers and has a Masters Degree in PE.

We are so happy to these coaches join us and help us to move our program forward in the coming years.

Bring in Lap it up shirts for adding new PB paws:

We will have the green box on deck for all swimmers to drop off their shirts from today until Friday. Bring them in so your swimmer can get an updated PB shirt.

50 m training (Long Course Meters LCM) next week.

The pool will be set for 50 m next week as we do some training for the LCM portion of our Splash Meet (Sunday). Please do not be scared of the big long pool…it is still the same water.

ANS Titans Sprint Challenge, Feb 13th:

We have 46 swimmers registered for this meet and we are hoping to give a good showing for ANS’s first meet ever. Wish them good luck next week.

BISAC Coming up at the end of March:

For those of you new to the program, we have our citywide championship meet during the last weekend in March. This is a selection meet, meaning you must be chosen for the meet based on best times. This is a privilege and an honor to represent your school during this championship meet. If you are chosen you are expected to compete. If you do not wish to be on this team, please let your coach know this month so they know you are not to be considered.

More info to come next month, but know that your Splash times are very importation to making this team.

Splash Meet sign up now please:

Currently we only half our team signed up for this meet, this is our home meet and it is expected that you compete for your team (unless you are part of the non-compete portion of our team). Please sign up ASAP.

Please also put the pep rally Friday night on your schedule. We will have a big party to get us excited about the meet. There will be fun relays and yummy food. Be there…Friday March 4th.

Spring International Travel Meet: International School Manila:

All events and important information about the ISM meet is now posted in on our website. You can choose your events and read about the particulars under upcoming meets. We have 30 swimmers travel to Singapore in the fall, so I am sure hoping we can surpass this number at ISM.

The Philippine people are always amazing hosts and ISM is a great facility. All hotels and great restaurants are with in walking distance of the school. This is a very easy meet to attend! Great for all levels of our swim team.
