MSSC had great turnout from both the 10 and under athletes and their parents. 28 MSSC athletes competed in 117 individual events and were supported on deck by 16 working parents! We are very proud of all our swimmers! MSSC athletes came away with 57 medals and multiple trophies for their efforts. There were many noteworthy achievements from the meet, including Trevor Donley setting two new team records in the 25 Butterfly with a 20.70 and the 25 Breaststroke with a 27.05. Trevor is just .01 seconds off of the 25 free record which he plans to take at Mini Champs in March. Trevor came in first place in the 6 and under Pentathlon competition. The Pentathlon competition was comprised of swimming 25’s or 50’s of all four stroke and then completing a 100 Yard Individual Medley. All events need to be swum legally, which Trevor did, and Trevor is only 6 years old! On the older end of the participants, Rachel Salazar, 10, placed third in her Pentathlon and made her Junior Olympics cut in the 50 Breaststroke with a time of 42.93! Rachel will go to the 14 and Under Junior Olympics in March. Elena Bowles and Kayley Markovitz had strong performances placing 5th and 6th respectively in the 10 year old girls Pentathlon. Angel Zhou swam strong and placed 2nd in her 8 year old girl Pentathlon. Our highest girls placement goes to Angela Lei who excelled by taking first place in the 7 year old girls competition. Among the 7 year old boys MSSC placed 2nd with James Bowles and 4th with Brendon Ford, both swimming strong races. Although this is only the second year of this meet, MSSC swimmers also established many new meet records raising the bar for swimmers at next year’s competition. Congratulations swimmers – keep up the good work!
