Indiana Swimming Officials Receive National and International Recognition

INDIANAPOLIS - Congratulations are in order for five Indiana Swimming Officials who have been invited to officiate at the 2016 Olympic Trials from June 26 thru July 3 in Omaha, Nebraska.   Lucy Duncan will serve as a Deck Referee and Fran Werner, Dick Duncan, Mickey Smythe and John Hiester will serve as stroke and turn officials.   There are only 60 officials invited to officiate this meet and our LSC is one of only 2 to have 5 invited.

A special congratulations is also in order to Mickey Smythe and Fran Werner for being appointed to the UANA Officials List.   Fran was appointed to the starter list and Mickey to the Referee list.   UANA (“Union Americana de Natacion”) is a sports organization with the purpose of organizing, supervising, and controlling, in the Western Hemisphere, the amateur aquatics activities of Swimming, Diving, Water Polo, Synchronized Swimming, Master and Open Water Swimming.   FINA members are grouped by continent and there are 5 continental associations.   These appointments are 4 year terms and are effective 1/1/16 thru 12/31/19.  Federations may nominate up to 5 officials to be considered to officiate such meets as the Pan Am Games.  Congratulations to Fran and Mickey!
