Breaker Parents

The short course season is coming to an end but we still have lots of team activities and events coming up.  Our last day of practice before spring break will be Thursday, March 24 and we will start back up in April on Monday the 4th.  April will be a unique month as it will be devoted strictly to stroke technique along with starts and turns.  Each week a specific stroke will be worked on so by the end of the month all four strokes, turns and dives will be covered.  We will also be doing some video taping so the kids can see them selves swim in the water.  The April schedule will be posted on the website under Breaker Info along with the summer schedules for May through June and June through July.   A preliminary summer meet schedule should is posted under the meets/events tab.

I hope everyone is aware of the practice changes for the rest of the month.

All Bronze swimmers T/Th dryland 6-6:15 and then swimming.  The M/W group will continue to swim 6-7 for the rest of March at the Central Y.

Silver and Gold Swimmers: M/W 4:30-6 at the Central Y, T/Th 4:30 -5:45 at the West Y and Fridays Silver and Gold 2 4:30-6.

Squad Wrap ups: All Groups will continue to do some stroke work and have some fun in the pool doing relays and playing games.

Meet Recap: It was a crazy weekend for the Breakers with two meets going on.  On Friday we hosted an intra squad meet with the masters team along with a few Tri athletes.  We had over 50 Breakers at the meet with many Swim Academy swimming in their first swim meet.  Along with the 50 Breakers there we had over 30 masters swimmers swimming with the Breakers.  It was fun watching an 81 year old master swimmer swim with 7 year old swimmers.  Everyone had fun at the meet and is something we will have to do again.

Also this weekend we had four swimmers earn the right to swim at the Michigan 12 and Under State Meet at Oakland University against the fastest kids in the state

Mally: 50th in the 50 Breast

Maeve: 23rd in the 200 IM with a best time and made finals in both the 50 and 100 Breast.  She ended up 6th in the 50 Breast dropping a second and 8th in the 100 Breast dropping 4 sec.

Camryn: 24th in the 50 Back and 31 in the 10 Back both best times

Avery: Made finals in all six of her races and managed to not drop in all but one swim in prelims and come back and swim even faster at finals.  7th in the 50 Fly dropping 1.5 sec and swimming a Central Zone cut, 6th in the 100 Fly dropping over 4 sec and making a Central Zone cut, 15th in the 50 Back just missing a Central Zone cut, 14th in the 100 Back dropping .3 sec and swimming another Central Zone cut, 9th in the 100 IM dropping over 2 sec and 12 in the 200IM dropping almost 3 sec and just missing another Central Zone cut.
