Team Communication – Buenaventura Swim Club
April 10, 2016
Personalized Team Caps. About twice per year, we set it up so that our members can place an order through Conejo Swimworks for a personalized cap. The kids always love seeing their personal name or even “nick name” on their cap, so this is a worthwhile purchase. Following are details: Deadline to order is Monday, April 18th. You must order a minimum of two caps. Must place order directly through Conejo Swimworks by calling 805-379-4734. All inquiries should be made to Conejo Swimworks at the above mentioned phone number.
Awards Banquet. Our annual awards banquet is scheduled for Sunday, April 17th. This is always a fun opportunity to socialize away from the pool and see the kids get dressed up for the occasion. The prestigious McConica Award will be given out as will the volunteer of the year award, the graduating seniors will be acknowledged, you will be able to hear your coaches speak, receive your recognition pin, and I hear there will be entertainment for the kids as well! Admission is free, but we ask that our members share an appetizer if their last name begins with the letters A-J, a salad if their last name begins with the letter K-R, and a dessert if their last name begins with S-Z. We hope to see all of our members, enjoy their company and have a good time out of the water.
Swimmer in the Spotlight (SIS). Bi-Monthly, we acknowledge some of our best athletes through our SIS publication. Our goal is to tell these athletes we think they are amazing and it can be for a number of different reasons. You can read about our spotlight choices and see their pictures by visiting our website, buenaventuraswimclub.org, then by clicking the box that says “Swimmer in the Spotlight” next to the rotating pictures in the middle of the page. Congratulations to the following selections this month: Masters = Donna Waltmann; Senior Group = Jack Burleigh; Gold Group = Ashton Lindstrom; Silver Group = Lexi Zimpleman; Bronze A Group = Charlie Woo-Bloxberg; Bronze B Group = Max Montano; Pre-Competitive Group = Chase Gray! These swimmers make us PROUD!
Upcoming Swim Meets. We have two swim meets that are currently posted. The Swim Meet of Champions in Mission Viejo is for our senior group swimmers who are qualified (it is a proof of time meet) and there is also our long course home opener. Normally, these two meets do not fall on the same date, but since it is an Olympic Year, Swim Meet of Champions has been moved forward a month. Because of this, we will be spread thin in terms of volunteer help at our first long course meet, so please sign up for your volunteer jobs and help us run a smooth meet. If you have any swimming related questions, please contact your primary coach. If you have any volunteer job related questions, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Mary Miya, at [email protected].
Annual Swim A Thon Fundraiser. Please be advised, we are hosting our annual Swim A Thon Fundraiser on Thursday, April 14, 2016 (changed from April 13th). Our goal is to raise $20,000. You can learn more by clicking the “Swim A Thon” logo on the home page of our website, buenaventuraswimclub.org.
