TO ALL PTAC FAMILIES/SWIMMERS WHO ARE REGISTERED TO SWIM AMS - Please read the following announcement forwarded to all clubs regarding swimsuit regulations:

I'm writing to all coaches and officials concerning female swimmers wearing swimsuits with tie backs. It was noted at the Dan Mazzei meet that there were a number of female swimmers wearing swimsuits with tie backs. This is a disqualification per USAS Rule 102.8.1C. While no such disqualifications were made at the Mazzei meet, I wanted to make you aware of the rule so that you can alert your swimmers that, in future meets, this is a call that will be made.

Rule 102.8.1C states that "only swimsuits complying with FINA swimsuit specifications may be worn in USA Swimming sanctioned or approved competition". Article 4.1.6 of FINA's rules states that "No zippers or other fastening system is allowed".
USA Swimming's Chair of its Rules & Regulations Committee has indicated that a suit with a tie back is using a fastening system to hold the suit in place and is not permitted.
Please make your swimmers aware of this rule so this doesn't become an on deck issue. Thanks. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
