The Mendocino Coast Sea Dragons swim team competed in the “Long Spring Thaw” long course meet, hosted by the Vallejo Aquatics swim club, May 20-22. This three-day meet represented hundreds of swimmers from all of over the bay area. Each Sea Dragon swam several personal best times in the 50-meter (Olympic size) pool, all placed well in individual events and all achieved new USA Swimming Motivational Time Standards.
In the boys 13-14 age group, Mitchel Walker improved his time in seven of eight events including the 1500M freestyle (22:32.42) and achieved BB time standards in the 200M freestyle (2:33.32), 50M freestyle (31.06) and 100M freestyle (1:09.00).
In the girls 13-14 age group, Haley Hutchinson improved her time in six of eight events and achieved a Far Western time standard in the 200M breaststroke (2:52.99) and a Junior Olympic time standard in the 400M IM (5:44.06).
In the girls 11-12 age group, Alexi Huerta improved her time in all four events swum including a 2nd place finish (A) in the 100M breaststroke (1:31.68) and achieved a BB time standard in the 100M butterfly (1:26.42). Dylan Hutchinson improved her time in five of eight events swum and achieved a Junior Olympic time standard in both the 200M breaststroke (3:05.24) and the 400M freestyle (5:14.00). Ali Wilson improved her time in all four events swum and achieved B time standards in both the 100M breaststroke (1:47.19) and the 50M freestyle (38.31).
