Swim Meet Wrap-up & Upcoming Week Info

Swimmers & Families,

Coach Holly:  What a great first meet of the season!  Beautiful  weather, and the kids swam well for their first meet.  The other coaches and I saw what we need to work on in the coming weeks to improve, and we saw what a great group of kids we have to work with!  I was especially impressed by swimmers who tackled difficult or new events.  I also loved seeing our swimmers shake hands with competitors and being good sports. I look forward to seeing everyone swim after we’ve had more practice.  Good job, Barracudas!  Parents, if you didn’t read the emails I sent out last week regarding meets, please take a minute to read them.  Some of the issues that arose at the meet (start/warmup  times, Individual Medley event, relay alternates, check-in, team caps)  were addressed in those emails.  It helps the meet run more smoothly for everyone if you know in advance what’s going to happen.   Overall, I think the meet went really well.  Thank you for all of your help!

Coach Robby:  Great first meet!  There were a lot of great moments.  I saw a lot of what we worked on in practice displayed during this meet.  I’m looking forward to the upcoming races and getting outside and into the heart of the season.

Coach Raegan:  Aamazing first meet!  I’m so proud of everyone, and I had so much fun today!  Everyone worked their hardest and remembered everything we did this week.  I can’t wait to see how much everyone will improve in the following weeks.  Great job!

Coach Reilly:  Wow!  That was an incredible first meet!  I saw so many good things.  Everyone did amazing and I am so proud of all the swimmers!  I hope next week we can get even better (a near impossible feat) and get some more good times.  See you Monday!

Coach Kayla:  What an amazing first meet!  I’m so proud of everyone and  I enjoyed working with all the kids.  I saw a lot of improvement from this past week and I’m excited to continue as the season goes on. Great day, everyone!

Coach Elise: This was such an awesome meet!  All the kids swam so well!  I've seen everyone improve since the first practice.  Can't wait to see whathappens this season!

There is a championship meet on  July 30 for swimmers from the entire Frederick Summer Swim League called “All-Stars”.  Swimmers may only attend All-Stars if they meet a qualifying time standard.  At the meet this past weekend, 11 swimmers made All-Star times:

Upcoming News

* * Tomorrow we begin our outdoor practices at Braddock Heights.  It’s going to be fun!  12-Under swimmers swim from 8-9am, 13-Older from 9-10.  Evening practices are from 8:15 – 9pm.  Evening practices are for swimmers who are unable to attend the morning practices because of things like camps, and they are the same workout as in the morning, only shorter.  You must let me know in advance if you are planning to attend, as the coaching staff is decided depending upon the number of swimmers we expect.  You can contact me at [email protected] any time up to 3pm the day you wish to attend.

* * Dryland training for swimmers ages 13 – Older begins this week.  Training is on Tuesday & Thursday morning from 8:30 – 9am with Coach Robby.  Wear workout clothes and tennis shoes, and bring a towel & water bottle.

* * Parents, please note that you are not allowed on the pool deck past the glass divider in the morning or evening practices.  You are welcome to observe practice from the picnic tables and chairs by the baby pool.  Please do not talk with your swimmers or distract them unless it’s an emergency.  Coaches are available before and after practice if you have questions or concerns.  Please do not talk to coaches during practice, as it takes us away from the swimmers. If you need to get your swimmer out early, you or your swimmer should tell us in advance, and it’s all right to come get them.

* * This Friday, wear your team suit because we will be takingteam & individual pictures.  We are doing something different this year, and having 12-Under individual pictures at 8am, the whole team at 9am, then 13-Older individual pix after the team picture.  If you are not having an individual picture taken, then you only need to show up for the team picture at 9:00.  If there are siblings taking pictures, they should go AFTER the team picture.  THERE WILL BE NO PRACTICE FRIDAY MORNING - JUST PICTURES.  This is different from past years.  The picture order form can be found on the website under the pictures tab.  Please print out a form and bring it with payment if you’d like to order pictures.

Go Barracudas!
