11 and Over State Meet Report

The Hood River Valley Swim Team tore up the pool at the 11 and Over state swimming championships held at Mt Hood Community College this past weekend.  With 80% personal best times achieved, the team has much to be proud of.

Dhani Freeland, who will be attending the University of Idaho this fall and swimming for the  Vandals, achieved Futures qualifying times in 3 events - and set new HRVST team records in those three events as well.
Dhani broke the 15-18 and Senior Girls 100m butterfly team record with a 1:04.87.  The previous team record was set by Kim Simpson of 1:07.03 in 1994.  (one of the oldest records still on the books for the HRVST).  She broken the 15-18 and Senior Girls 100m freestyle team record with a 59.53.  The previous record was set by Bethany Pendelton in 1998 with a 59.58.  And Dhani lowered her own 200 Individual Medley record with a 2:25.00.  Dhani also won State in these three events, setting her apart from the competition as she won the 15 and Over girls high point award for the meet.  Dhani also finished 3rd in the 200 breaststroke (2:50.45), 4th in the 100m breaststroke (1:19.31) and 4th in the 200m freestyle (2:13.30).
