Hello Hurricane Families!
As you have heard from Coach Dan, we are thrilled to announce the Hurricanes' new Associate Head Coach, Andrew Beggs. Andrew was hired after an extensive search and very lengthy interview process. A tremendous THANK YOU goes out to our search committee who not only navigated this process so well, but who represented our team in a way that enabled us to find a coach of this caliber. Members of the search committee were Dan Ohm, Steven Swinehart, Judi Livingston, Brian Abeyta, Sandra Parker, Jami Conroy, and Jeff Battles.
Below, you will see more information about Andrew Beggs. He will be coming into town this weekend to be a part of our Navy and Gold Meet, and he will officially be starting on September 15th. We know you will be as excited as we are to welcome him to our team!
Thank you very much for your support, and we look forward to seeing you this weekend as we kick off the season with our Navy and Gold Meet!
Coach Andrew Beggs comes to the Hurricanes with extensive and very successful coaching experience. Andrew was most recently the Head Coach for the Lionville Community YMCA in Exton, PA where he led his team to win the 2016 State Championship.
Prior to coaching for the Lionville YMCA, Andrew was the Assistant Coach for Swarthmore College, where he coached both the men's and women's teams. While at Swarthmore, Andrew was the recipient of the CSCAA (College Swim Coach's Association) Jean Freeman Scholarship. This award is given to a coach who exemplifies both leadership and integrity. As the Assistant Coach, Andrew was responsible for recruiting, running/writing practices, coordinating dry land programs, trip planning, and running invitational meets.
Andrew has also coached for the Ridley Area YMCA and the Brookhaven Swim Club. In all of his positions he has led swimmers to multiple championships and national rankings. He is known as a great technical teacher with tremendous attention to detail and precision.
Andrew attended Rutgers University on a track and field scholarship and holds a BA in Applied Mathematics from Eastern University. He is affectionately referred to as "Beggs" by those who know him, and he is very excited to be joining the Hurricanes!
