Weekly News (Sept 26-Oct 1)

Hello all Panthers,

Thought of the Day:

Water; water everywhere and not a drop to drink. Don’t let this Sailor’s sad song become reality on deck. It may seem like we are not sweating surrounded by water in the pool, but we are…a lot! Please ensure your swimmer has a water bottle at practices, dehydration and athletics can be a bad combination.

Important Notes:

8 and under Patana Tiger Prawn competitors rocked it!

With 400 little swimmers at Patana this weekend, our Panthers had plenty of competition and fun with many other teams from across Bangkok. The coaches and I were overwhelmed with how much our swimmers improved. The freestyle event alone saw an average of 2.5 seconds off the 25m swim and some events saw as much as 95% PB swims.

A little pat on the back goes out to Gene Sunthornrangsri who broke a very fast 25m fly school record. The new time is 18:07, well done.

Panther Palooza: Oct 4th (Jr. 10 and under) Oct 5th  (Sr. 11 and over):

By this date we will have almost two full months of training under our belt, so it will be time to see what kind of improvements we have made. This can also be a quick warm up for the NIST meet on the following weekend.

A reminder that October 4th is an early release day, so we will start at 1:35. October 5th, Senior swimmers will compete at 3:30 during their normal practice time. Warm up will start at 3:00pm.

October 6/7 (Parent - Teacher Interviews):

October 6: Swimming Practices as usual.

October 7: 8:00am 10 & Under at 50m pool, Jr. Panther 25m pool

                    9:00am 11 & Over at 50m pool

Team Shirts and Cap (please pick up at 50m pool)

We still have about 30 swimmer bags left at the 50m pool. These are the team shirts (one gold and one black), along with the team cap. These are our team uniforms and must be worn at our competitions. So if you have not received yours please come this week to the 50m pool and look for Coach Day.

Swim-a-thon (October 20th) Bring a friend this year:

If you have a friend that is interested in the swim team, or would just like to join you for a good cause…bring them out to the swim-a-thon. You can raise funds together or separately.

Remember to start raising funds now; do not leave it until the last week. We are one month away, so let’s all work together and give 2nd Chance Bangkok the help it deserves.

NIST Falcons Swim Extreme Sprint Meet (Saturday Oct 15):

So far we have 50 swimmers signed up for this meet. I will remind you that the only way to get more comfortable racing…is to race J This will be a great local meet for all ages and all skill levels. Let’s bump this up to 80 swimmers.
