Weekly News (Oct 3-8) Lots of Info :)

Hello all Panthers,

Thought of the Day:

Travel meet experiences build life long swimmers. After spending the weekend with our National Swim team qualifiers, I am reminded how important traveling with the team away from our home pool is for building lifelong teammates. The swimmers travel together, eat together and compete together. They create stories and build friendships along side the sport the love. If you have never been on a travel meet, I highly suggest you and your family sign up for one this year and experience exactly what I am taking about.

Important Notes:

Very impressive day for Thai National Swimmers!

As reported earlier, 14 ISB swimmers qualified for Thailand National Short Course Swim Meet this past weekend. As we would expect, our swimmers competed hard against the best in Thailand. In some cases, our swimmers were side by side on the blocks with Thai National Swimmers who competed in Rio this past summer at the Olympic games. Highlights came when Tar Tar Jarusinchai earned a bronze medal in 200IM and our relay teams came 2nd (girls) and 3rd (boys) in the final relay events.

This was the first time ISB competed as a team at Nationals, so thanks to the success of this group; this will be an annual event for years to come.

Congratulations and well done, you make us all very proud.

Winter Swim Camp in Phuket deadline two weeks away:

Currently, we have 10 families committed to attending this swim camp at Thanyapura Sports resort in Phuket. We have set the deadline with the resort for October 15th. For us to move ahead with this plan, we will need 20 swimmers. We can add more swimmers later, but we need this minimum by October 15th.

We are doing our best as a team to make this very economical for families. The team and the resort cover the training, bus transportation and first two meals of the day. So as families, you need to book the airfare and the hotel.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Perth Indian Ocean All Stars Challenge (April 15th & 16th):

ISB swim team attends this meet every second year. This is an amazing experience for our team as we compete as part of team Asia against Team Australia. This year, the meet is part of the April holiday making it a great time to take the whole week and visit Australia after the meet. Sign up now on the website.

Panther Palooza: Oct 4th (Jr. 10 and under) Oct 5th  (Sr. 11 and over):

For the Jr. Panther Palooza on Tuesday October 4th (warm up right after school at 1:30) we have 112 swimmers. Registration is closed and I will have the program out to you in another email later today.

See you all on deck tomorrow.

For the Sr. Palooza on Wednesday October 5th (warm up at 3:00 in far end of the pool) we have 90 swimmers. Registration is also closed and program will be out tomorrow.

Thanks in advance to all volunteers. This will be a great time trial to see how we are doing in our training.

October 6/7 (Parent - Teacher Interviews):

October 6: Swimming Practices as usual.

October 7: 8:00am 10 & Under at 50m pool

                    9:00am 11 & Over at 50m pool

Team Shirts and Cap (please pick up at 50m pool)

We still have about 20 swimmer bags left at the 50m pool. These are the team shirts (one gold and one black), along with the team cap. These are our team uniforms and must be worn at our competitions. So if you have not received yours please come pick them up at the palooza’s this week.

Swim-a-thon (October 20th) Bring a friend this year:

If you have a friend that is interested in the swim team, or would just like to join you for a good cause…bring them out to the swim-a-thon. You can raise funds together or separately.

Remember to start raising funds now; do not leave it until the last week. We are one month away, so let’s all work together and give 2nd Chance Bangkok the help it deserves.
