January 1, 2017
I hope you have all enjoyed the holiday break from school and are looking forward to getting back into a routine. I know many of you have taken advantage of the opportunity to get in extra practices over the break while some of you we have not seen as much as we would have liked to! Hopefully this little bit of extra rest will have you all ready to get back to practice next week.
As we get ready to kick off the New Year, 2017, and the second half of the short course season, I wanted to encourage you to revisit where you are with your swimming and think about what you can do to be better as you start 2017.
As you think about your New Year’s Resolution (that is something you change or commit to doing in the New Year), try to choose something that can help you become a better swimmer and better person. The sign that we put up this year to help remind you about the things you can control regardless of how good of a swimmer you are offers some great suggestions.
10 Things That Require Zero Talent
- Being on Time
- Work Ethic
- Body Language
- Being Coachable
- Doing Extra
- Being Prepared
This offers some great ideas as to what can help you perform better in the pool and in all aspects of your life and you have them in front of you every day at the pool. There are other great options as well but the most important thing is that you commit to making the change and having it make a positive influence on you. It is easy to say you are going to do it, the challange is actually do it all the time.
We are looking forward to a great second half of the Short Course Season and can’t wait to see you back at the pool next week as we kick off 2017 next week. Enjoy the last few days of rest and have a Great New Year!!
