Weekly News (Feb 20-26th)

Hello all Panthers,

With all of our HS swimmers gone on GCW, and the Frog and Toad play about to raise the curtain, we are going to be a little bit quieter than usual around the pool this week. But for those of you here, we have moved the pool to 50m and you will get the opportunity to swim the long lengths and get ready for the Splash Sunday LCM portion of our big meet.

Splash sign up is now closed and we will not be taking anymore entries. We have 208 ISB swimmers competing so we will be the biggest team in the meet! All entries are due from visiting teams also this week, but it looks like we will have 20 international teams and just over 650 swimmers. Nice small meet by ISB standards, but the quality will be very high. Hope you are all getting excited.

A side note for the team, I will fly back this Thursday to Canada for my father’s funeral. The Original Coach Day, passed this last weekend after a long battle with Cancer. Thanks for all your thoughts, prayers and messages, they have helped so much. But don’t worry, I fly back early on Wednesday next week and will be here ready and excited for the Splash Meet.

Important Notes:

Splash Spirit Night all-ages practice (Friday March 3) Beeee There…even if it is not your practice day!

These spirit nights are one of the best events the team puts on. The combination of excitement for the upcoming meet and the mixing of older swimmers with younger swimmers is just a great way to kick off the weekend. So please put this on your calendar and bring the whole family.

We will have snacks afterwards and it will be AMAZING!

Great Palooza Swims last week:

It certainly looks like our swimmers are in top form for the big month ahead. Our PB % was way up where it should be as we are looking towards next weekend and then BISAC at the end of March.

Speaking of fast swimming, we had 3 records broke last week.

Two 8 and under girls records for Ada Phoonseeraah (25 free 16.31 and 25 back 20.23), and one 9/10 year old boys record for Pippin Kantakom who broke the 200 IM record by over 5 seconds (2:50.56)

Congratulations to all swimmers for their great results!

Lap it up shirts:

Please bring in before Splash weekend. For new swimmers, you will receive your new shirt after we get splash swims on them.

Caps and Swim Suits for New Swimmers pick up at Splash Spirit Night (Friday March 3 at 2:30pm):

Our new swimsuits will arrive early next week, so we will have a table set up at the swim shack for swimsuit pick ups.  This will be for new second season swimmers or those that did not get their size last semester.

Some new volunteer positions added for Splash…come and get them while their hot?

We have posted 4 new volunteer positions for the Splash Saturday and Sunday meets. If you missed signing up earlier, please do so now.

Sign up deadline extended to March 4th: Dragon’s Den Swim Meet in Singapore April 21-23:

We now have 19 swimmers for this meet and most have booked flights and hotels. Details can be found on the “meets and events” tab of our website. Currently, I will be the only coach traveling…but if we get up past 20 swimmers, I can bring another coach. So take the plunge and sign up.
