Weekly News (April 24-29)

Hello all Panthers,

Congratulations to the swimmers who competed well at the Dragon’s Den Meet in Singapore this weekend. This was a very high level meet, and our girls and boys held their own very well.

We are getting down to our last month of swimming, so let’s finish strong and really work on the technique the coaches are working you through these practices. This is a great time to make your stroke better for next year.

Important Notes:

Practices canceled this Friday, April 28th for Water Polo Tournament Set Up:

This coming weekend ISB is hosting the Bangkok Water Polo Tournament. This event will need the pool set up for the 50m water polo court. This takes a lot of time and energy so our aquatics staff will have to start set up in the afternoon on Friday.

Please feel free to come to another practice this week or the next to make up for this missed training day.

Kick off Swim Meet Today (April 24) for 10 and under swimmers:

We will start right at 2:30 so please be at the 50m pool ready to swim right after school. If you did not sign up for the meet, but would like to participate then please come and we will fit you in a lane somewhere.

Pentathlon Swim Meet with ISB, Patana and ANS: May 13th (half day meet):

This is our last meet of the year, last chance to get those PB times just a little bit lower before the summer.

This meet will take half a day and is does not have any awards, it is truly just a friendship meet between 3 really good Bangkok swim teams.

We will also take our whole team photo at this time, so we would really like to see most of our team come out for this meet.

Colgate Tri-athlon (May 10th):

The Panther Swim Team has always had a big presence in this event, so let’s make sure that this year is no difference. For more information please follow this link:

Squad Award Days during practice May 22/23:

With almost 250 swimmers on our team, we cannot get through all the awards we would like to at a single evening awards dinner. Our coaches have identified many different awards they would like to give out to their swimmers. Because of this, we will be holding squad award days during practice on both Monday, May 22nd and Tuesday May 23rd. Please attend one of these two practices.

Year End Celebration and Awards Dinner…Sign Up Today (May 24th 2:30-6:00)

For those of you new to the team, this is the event you do not want to miss. Last year we had 95% of the team attend and it was tons of fun.

Here is what we have:

2:30-4:30: Family Swim Meet (sign up on webpage today)

All parents and siblings invited to swim with coaches and swimmers. We have family relays, 25m “sprints” with your kids and the head to head matches with the coaches. Last year we had over 30 parents take part, please let’s see if we can top that this year. You can put together your own relay with other families or just your own (like the Peters family with Mom/Dad and the two girls). Sign up today by emailing me your relay or individual events you would like to swim.

4:45-6:00: Dinner and Awards

This year we will be serving a delicious meal and handing out awards in the gym here at the New Sports Center (same gym we use for swim meets). The food is fantastic, the entertainment is sometimes funny and the kids have so much fun. A dinner sign up link will be coming out soon…so please everyone put this date on your calendar TODAY!
