Home Spring Sprinter Meet Report

The Hood River Valley Swim Team Osprey held their annual Spring Sprinter Invitational Swim Meet this past weekend at the Hood River Aquatic Center. 9 teams and 250 swimmers from around northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington participated in this fast and fun event.

Leading the charge for the Osprey this spring was Sophia Helleberg – who won all 4 of the 25yd events (25yd free, 25yd back, 25yd breaststroke and 25yd freestyle) in the mixed 8 and Under division and scored 44 points for the team. Great job Sophie!

Kudos to first time swim meet participants for the HRVST – Yoon Carlson, Charlotte Evans, William Frost, Genevieve Kingsford-Smith, Helen Hoskins, Marieda Kalahar, Makenna Kincaid, Sam Munce, Molly O'Neill, Olivia O'Shea, Skye Weiseth and Lila Witherrite!

Swimmers that swam to 4 personal best times included: Elijah Adams, Izaiah Adams, Maya Arndt, Jackson Bullock, Gavin Hackett, Mallory Keller and Fergie Waag.

Swimmers who achieved 3 personal best times were Ivy Collins, Amy Elliott, Ava Giordano, Sophie Helleberg, Izzy McCormack, Lillie Tomlinson and Avery Walker.

Two swimmers had huge drops in time in their events – and that included Isa Arndt who dropped 16 seconds in both her 25 yd freestyle and 25 yd backstroke events – and Michelle Graves who took off over half a minute in her 500 yd freestyle swim.

Swimmers who dropped time in two events included Leah Adams, Adam Burke, Claire Couvreux (who also had 4 top 10 finishes), Juliet Crain, Jesse Elliott, Jessica Galvez, Colin Gerald, Phillip Hecksel, Skyla Hollowell, Remmie Russo, Trudy Sanders, Leah Sandoval, Olivia Sumerfield and Wyatt Stewart.

Our other swimmers who rounded out the field by swimming to their best by dropping time in one event &/or swimming on those point getting relays included Aili Archbald, Celilo Brun, Allie Burke, Max Graves, Delaney Hackett, Willow Hollowell, Campbell Keller, Alea McCarty, Faith Ocheskey, Seth Millan, Nora Sandoval, Nadia Smith & Thea Smith.

The HRVST will travel to weekend for their next swim meet.
