Petaluma LCM

 

The Mendocino Coast Sea Dragons swim team competed in the first long course meet of the season, April 8-9, hosted by the Westside Aquaducks in Petaluma. Each Sea Dragon swam several personal best times in the 50 meter (Olympic size) pool, all placed well in individual events and several achieved new USA Swimming Motivational Time Standards. Highlights include:

Girls 15-16:

Natalie Baumgartner improved her time in five of seven events including a 1st place finish (B) in the 200-yard IM (2:43.89). Haley Hutchinson improved her time in five of eight events and achieved two AA time standards including the 100-yard butterfly (1:11.54) for 1st place (B).

Boys 13-14:

Cole Freeling improved his time in both events swum including a strong performance in the 100-yard freestyle (1:16.78).

Girls 13-14:

Alexi Huerta improved her time in seven of eight events and achieved three BB time standards including the 200-yard IM (2:49.50) for 1st place (C). Dylan Hutchinson improved her time in five of eight events and achieved four Junior Olympic time standards including the 200-yard freestyle for 1st place (B).

Boys 11-12:

Alfonso Jimenez-Hernandez improved his time in seven of eight events including the 100-yard butterfly (1:40.99) for 3rd place (C).

Girls 9-10:

Elena Caranicolas, competing in her first long course meet, swam eight events, achieved four BB time standards and took 3rd place (C) in the 100-yard backstroke (1:43.74). Rhiannon McColley, also competing in her first long course meet, competed in four events and achieved a B time standard in the 100-yard breaststroke (2:03.26) for 8th place (C). Adriana Salazar improved her time in seven of eight events and achieved two BB time standards including the 50-yard freestyle (38.15) for 5th place (B).

Girls 8 and Under:

Irma Jimenez-Hernandez improved her time in five of eight events and achieved a B time standard in the 50-yard breaststroke for 7th place (C).
