The PVAC board is very excited to announce the hiring of Mitchell Zackowski as our new Head Swim Coach for PVAC.
Mitchell brings to our club many years of swimming and coaching experience. He began his swimming career at the age of 9, swimming for the Pottstown Y, He swam with them through high school. He graduated from The Hill School, and attended LaSalle University on a full ride swimming scholarship.
He began his coaching career at 17 as an assistant coach at Sunnybrook Swim Club and head coach the following year. He spent a few summers as head coach at Sunnybrook. After graduating college, he moved to Scranton for work. While in Scranton, Mitchell taught swim lessons at the Scranton YMCA and coached the USA Masters team. After moving back to the Pottstown Area he was an assistant coach at Wissahickon Aquatic Club . At this point in his career he wanted a more substantial role in a swim program so he started the Tigershark Swim Team located at The Hill School. He was head coach for 10 years. After a break from coaching to further his career and personal life, he is ready to bring his knowledge and enthusiasm to our aquatic club. He has met with our current coaching staff, and they are developing a coaching plan for next season. When this is more defined he will reach out to our families with more detailed information. He will be helping with the high school summer swim program at Ursinus so he will have a chance to meet some of our older swimmers. We could not be more excited about this announcement and we look forward to many great swim seasons.
