Hello all Panthers,
Thanks for everyone that came out and participated in our year-end celebration last Wednesday. It was so much fun! I love watching the endless parade of smiles from our swimmers, what a great way to end the year. Thanks to all the family members who got up on the blocks and made the day even more special for their swimmers.
For those swimmers who did not get their team photos and team hoodie please come see me at the 50m pool this week. There are not many, but we want to make sure that we have none sitting her waiting to go to their swimmer.
They look fantastic all around the school, thanks to the swim Committee for designing and organizing this amazing year-end gift.
Wear it with Panther Pride!
Panther Swim Team Joins the “I love to watch you play” Movement:
Our swim team has officially pledged membership to the rapidly growing American Website and Web based movement named “I love to watch you play”. What this means is that we will do our best as a team to follow the ideals this movement was founded on.
This website is in place to help parents learn what it takes to keep athletes in athletics and not dropping out for the multitude of reasons out there.
Studies have shown that over 50% of 10 and under athletes quit their chosen sports by the time they become middle school students. These numbers are certainly reflected in our swim team. So why not do our best to try and change this pattern. As coaches and parents, we have the most influence on our athletes and therefore we should do our best to be informed.
If you have been on our website lately, you will see that we have adapted their slogan to “I love to watch you swim”. This will be printed on our parents support shirts next season and added in where we feel it might help to best spread the idea.
Here is the website and an article written in the Huffington Post from a mothers perspective. Please take time to read this and pass it on to parents in other sports if you feel it is appropriate.
It is our hopes that this will foster into something bigger than just our swim team, but it should at least it serve as food for thought. I truly believe our parent/family base is incredibly supportive and a joy to work with, but as a parent of a young swimmer, I am finding out that “you don’t know, what you don’t know”. So I welcome new parenting support and information, as I am sure we all do.
Pre Order Team Back packs:
We will be taking orders for team backpacks up until June 7th. At this moment the backpacks cost is 2000 baht, but if we have a large enough order that number will come down and you will get a refund for the difference.
