To All Masters:
Sunday morning, July 2, the Foothill College facilities manager notified me that a LAMVAC master swimmer showed up in the locker room at 5 a.m., an hour before our practice start time at 6 a.m. When confronted by a Foothill District staff member, the swimmer allegedly told the staff member that, although no one is allowed before 6 a.m., she was only there to pull the lane lines and not to tell anybody.
It was also brought to my attention that this incident has happened before, at which time, the swimmer jumped over the brick wall to enter the pool area.
Please note that these acts are violations of our contract and present serious liabilities to both LAMVAC and Foothill College. These breaches can potentially jeopardize our abilities to negotiate our upcoming contract renewal.
Effective immediately, no one is allowed to enter the pool area until the coach is on deck. Further, no LAMVAC swimmer is allowed earlier than 6 a.m. Monday through Friday, nor earlier than 7 a.m. on Saturday. Failure to adhere to these scheduled start times will be cause for dismissal from the club. Foothill College Risk Management has also alerted the campus police to be on watch for future transgressors. I urge you to follow these rules for your own safety and the future of LAMVAC. I expect and appreciate your full cooperation.
