Weekly News (Jan 15-20)

Happy Monday Panthers,

With only 3 days left to register for the spring semester we are sitting at 185 swimmers registered with 11 new swimmers joining the team.

Please register today if you are swimming in the second semester, if you are not registered by Wednesday of this week, your account will become deactivated. So if you are taking a break from the swim team, this will be the last email you receive until you come back to us.

Important Notes:

Registration is open for 3 more days!

If you are a returning swimmer, please sign up today so we will know exactly how many swimmers we have and we can straighten away our squads and coaches.

Ageing up or moving squads:

This week our coaches will be moving swimmers to other squads either because their birthdays are coming up and they are now in an older age group, or the swimmers abilities are growing and they need to be in the next level to swim with others their own level.

Either way, moving to another squad is a natural event on a swim team and will usually happen one or two times a year. It is nothing to be nervous about and should be looked upon as a kind of graduation. If your swimmer is concerned, please let me know so I can talk to them and make sure they are comfortable with the change.

Parent Lesson of the week:

Many parents have asked me about tech suits and should they get one for their swimmer. I tell all of our parents that our Panther team suits and mid-level race suits and are very suitable for all of our swimmers. Learning better technique is always better than buying technology. I am still not 100% sure exactly where I sit on this subject, thank goodness I have a couple more years before I have to make a decision for my own swimmers.

Here is a general article, a kind of “everything you ever wanted to know” about tech suits but were afraid to ask.

And, another opinion article concerning what age swimmers should get tech suits. Both very informative and interesting.
