Madras Next to Last Chance report

The Hood River Valley Swim Team competed at the Madras Next to Last Chance meet on February 3rd in Madras, Oregon. 21 athletes from the HRVST competed in this meet.

Leading the way for the Osprey were our event winners - William Frost with 2 first place finishes (25 yd free 18.25 & 25 breaststroke 29.25), Michelle Graves in the 12 & Under 100 yd Individual Medley (1:11.99) and Nora Sandoval in the 1650 yd freestyle (19:47.75).

Swimmers who swam to 100% personal best times were Christopher Dankenbring, Amy Elliott, William Frost, Max Graves, Michelle Graves and Addyson Lara.

Other swimmers who had top 10 finishes included Sarah Arpag (2nd in 200 yd IM, 3rd in 50 yd freestyle, 3rd in 100 yd breaststroke), Jackson Bullock (9th in 200 yd freestyle), Chloe Carter (3rd in 100 yd Individual Medley and 6th in 50 yd butterfly), Claire Couvreux (2nd in 25 yd freestyle, 4th in 25 yd backstroke, 10th in 100 yd Individual Medley), Jesse Elliott (6th in 100 yd freestyle and 4th in 100yd breaststroke), Miyuki Gerald (2nd in 500 yd freestyle, 6th in 100 yd backstroke and 7th in 200 yd Individual Medley), Skyla Hollowell (2nd in 50 yd butterfly and 3rd in 50 yd breaststroke), Willow Hollowell with 3 - 4th place finishes (50yd breaststroke, 100 yd backstroke, 50 yd butterfly), Lauren Mack (8th place 100 yd Individual Medley), Zoe Mortensen (9th place 100 yd backstroke), and Thea Smith (4th place 200yd freestyle, 8th in 100 yd freestyle and 8th in 50 yd freestyle).

Rounding out the Osprey team swimming in Madras were Matthew Couvreux who swam to 14th place in the 25 yd free and 15th in the 25 yd backstroke, Jade Smith with an 11th place finish in the 100 yd free and 12th place in the 50 yd free, and Wyatt Stelma with a 15th place finish in the 50 yd backstroke and strong showings in the 50 and 100 yd freestyle events as well.
