What: Central Zone Diversity Select Camp
The 2018 Central Zone Diversity Select Camp is an effort to celebrate the opportunities for diversity in swimming and provide a collaborative experience which includes pool training, motivational and educational sessions, team building and strategic planning activities, and competitive events to produce local ambassadors and leaders from among Central Zone coaches, Diversity Chairs, and emerging young diverse athletes from under-represented populations. Indiana Swimming will fund the maximum number of four athletes for this camp.
When: June 21st-24th, 2018
Where: Cleveland State University, Cleveland Ohio Hosted by Mason Manta Rays and Ohio Swimming
Who: Any qualified Indiana Swimming Athletes ages 11-14 as of the first day of the camp (June 21) who represent an ethnically under-represented population (less than 20% of the current USA Swimming membership), as well as Outreach and LGBT athletes may apply. Each LSC may select up to a maximum of two female and two male athletes to attend. Indiana Swimming will utilize a two-stage lottery to identify this year’s attendees.
Option 1: Any athlete who has qualified for the 2018 Indiana Age Group State Championships for their respective age groups.
Option 2: Any athlete who represented Team Indiana at the 2017 Central Zone Multicultural Meet and meets the age requirements for the camp are eligible to apply regardless of whether they have met the state qualifying time standards.
Selection Method: One female and one male athlete will be selected at random from applications by athletes who represented Team Indiana at the 2017 Central Zone Multi-Cultural Meet. The remaining female and male spots will be selected at random from all applications by athletes who qualified for the 2018 Indiana Age Group State Championships.
