Weekly News (April 2-7)

Hello all Panthers,

We have two short weeks coming up before the Songkran holiday so I hope to see many swimmers out during the training days. As I said before, feel free to come to the other training days if your day lands on a holiday.

We have almost 200 swimmers registered for today’s GVB Battle (Boys vs Girls), so I am sure we are going to have tons of fun at the pool afterschool. See you all there!

Habitat for Humanity donation has found its home:

Just some information surrounding the 100,000 baht the swim team donated to the local branch of Habitat for Humanity. I just received information that our funds were used to help the Habitat Young Leaders Build 2018 program, to help the local school with landscaping and renovation at Wat Proyfon School in Pathum Thani. The are going to send photos of the work when it is finished.

Last chance to turn in your “Lap It Up” shirts in please

Please send in your lap it up shirts to be updated. We have many PB stamps to get on these shirts. If you are a new 10 and under we will have a new shirt for you soon.

***Look for the green bin to drop the shirts off***

Year-End Party: Parents please start training now (May 30th)!

This “Family Sprintfest” event is a big part of our year- end awards celebration/dinner. We will have all family and friends join us in the pool for either individual races or a family/friend relay. Then after the races are over we will have our dinner and awards ceremony, this will take place in the gymnasium at the 50 m pool.

For our team members, please sign the up as per usual. For non-team members or family/friend relay entries please use the following link to sign up on the google document.

This is the best way ever to end the year, please make sure you mark this down on your calendar and come have some great fun.

Parent Lesson of the week:

Travel Meets: Why do them?

We are two weeks away from our travel meet to United World College in Singapore and I am looking at the fairly small number of ISB participants. This makes me a little sad, because as a lifelong swim team member, I know the amazing experiences these travel meets are and the benefits I gained from the many, many, many meets I have traveled on.

Here are some good articles that might make you pull the trigger on signing up next year.

Repeat Lesson:

How important is under water dolphin?

Watch Caeleb Dressel swim the first ever sub 18 sec 50 free (17.63). Even at this level, his underwater dolphin is longer and faster than anyone else. It is so important to learn this early. If you are on holidays and kids want to work on something in the hotel pool. Practice being a “merperson”…dophin kick all over the resort. It should become second nature at an early age!

Upcoming Events…sign up today on our website:

  1. Harrow 2 Fast 2 Furious: Saturday, May 19th

This is all ages sprint meet, a fun way to end the year.

  1. Year-End Family Sprintfest 2018: May 30th

This is the swimming portion of our year-end celebration. We will have individual sprint events and a family/friend relay. All coaches will be in both individual and team relays. Friends are welcome, you just need to sign them up on the google document (same for family relays).

That is all for now, see you on deck!

Coach Day,
