Spring Break is Over—Cheshire's Swim Season is Almost Here!
WOOHOO! I’ve heard we will hit 70 this week and the calendar promises that we are moving closer to summer—so that means one thing—the FLYING FISH are BACK!
And, we hope that our family is coming back to the team! We will have regular info and registration nights on the following days:
Thursday, April 12: 4:30-6:30
Sunday, April 15: 4:30-6:30
Thursday, April 26: 4:30-6:30
Sunday, April 26: 4:30-6:30
Thursday, May 17: 4:30-6:30
These are stop by and complete info/get questions answered. You do not need to be there the whole time. I know many of us are still busy with spring activities and may not be able to make any of these dates. You can download the Registration and Code of Conduct forms from the front page of the website (swimflyingfish.com) Registration fee is the same as the last few years: $100 per child.
Parents Meeting: Sunday, May 20: 6:30-8:00. We will start at 6:30 and the formal part should last no longer than an hour. We will stay until all questions are answered.
Team Suits: We do have to change suits this year. I’m working with Aquawear on finding an appropriate new suit. They are telling me that there just aren’t suits out there that will be available for two years so we may have to choose a one year suit. If anyone has any suggestions/ideas, please email me as soon as possible! They will be sold at the 2nd practice day like we did last year.
Suit/Fin Swap: if you have suits that no longer fit and want to swap/sell them,
Officials Clinics: We need you to participate in one of these trainings so we have options for our officials! There is in person training on:
May 19th Little Neck Swim Club. 8-9 am.: Referees & Starters
9-11 a.m: Stroke & Turn
June 6th: Great Bridge Swim and Raquet Club 6-7 p.m: Referees & Starters
7-9 p.m.: Stroke & Turn
There also is an online option for training at Strokeandturn.com. If you choose this option, you will be reimbursed by the league for the training costs. You will need to send me your certificate. Once all are received I submit them to the league for reimbursement. THANK YOU for participating in this training!!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! So, yes, this is the fun part! I need two folks to volunteer to help me with managing the team this year—shadowing and helping out—and be willing to take over for next year. As I said last year, if I can do this with my limited knowledge of swimming, ANYONE can do this! I’d like to get back to two folks managing the team so the lift is not heavy for anyone. And, really, because of all of our great parents, the lift isn’t heavy. To be honest, the hardest part for me was the learning curve. And, I’m still learning (remembering from last summer!) Please let me know if you are interested!
Jane McKlveen, THANK YOU for always keeping the site up to date and being my saving grace full of knowledge! THANK YOU to Donna Donato for stepping into Theresa’s shoes and working with Deneen on the bookkeeping! THANK YOU to Michele Bright for managing concessions again! THANK YOU Jenn Groves for those AWESOME new signs and continuing to help out with the swim gear!
And, THANK YOU all for being such awesome families! It makes it a pleasure to work with the team! Our village is strong and I am proud to be a part of it! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
