The Hood River Valley Swim Team hosted their annual Secure Storage sponsored Spring Sprinter Swim Meet last Saturday May 12th. 10 teams and 256 swimmers participated in this fun start of the summer event.
The HRVST was led by Sarah Arpag with 3 first place finishes in the 13-14 girls division ( 100 yd free 58.68, 100 yd back 1:06.91 and 1650 yd free 20:02.62), Chloe Carter (11-12 girls) won the 50 yd butterfly in 32.35, and Delaney Hackett (9-10 girls) finished first in the 50 yd freestyle with a 32.49.
Swimmers with 2nd place finishes in this competitive meet included Sarah Arpag (200 yd IM), Jackson Bullock (200 yd IM, 50 yd back & 50 yd butterfly), Allie Burke (500 yd free), Christopher Dankenbring (500 yd free), Delaney Hackett (50 yd breast & 50 yd back), Skyla Hollowell (50 yd free & 100 yd butterfly), Willow Hollowell (50 yd back), Nora Sandoval (100 yd free & 500 yd free),
This was the first swim meet ever for Alyra Elliott, Connor Farlow, Kaiya Keeler, Andres Mercado, Aimee Perez-Campos and Aven Viavoda-Kerr. Congratulations athletes!
Special kudos go to Abby Balogh, Max Graves, Willow Hollowell, Marieda Kalahar, Nora Sandoval and Max Webster for swimming 4 out of 4 personal best times at this early season meet.
Biggest improvements went to Lucinda Cook with a 9 second improvement in the 50 yd freestyle, Sophia Kaden with a 18 second improvement in the 500 yd freestyle, Gavin Hackett dropped 6 seconds in his 100 yd freestyle, Zoe Mortensen improved 7 seconds in her 50 yd freestyle, Molly O'Neill dropped 6 seconds off her 50 yd freestyle time, Nora Sandoval improved over 6 seconds in her 100 yd breaststroke, and Skye Weiseth improved 7 seconds in her 25 yd freestyle race.
Swimmers with 3 personal best times included Allison Balogh-Easton, Caitlin Devine, Amy Elliott, Grace Roulette and Leah Sandoval. Additional swimmers that scored two best times included Aili Archbald, Claire Couvreux, Matthew Couvreux, Juliet Crain, Jesse Eliott, Jessica Galvez, Colin Gerald, Miyuki Gerald, Addyson Lara, Lauren Mack, Dane Schwarz, Raegen Van Matre, Rhylie Van Matre & Scout Wolfe.
Other Osprey who scored one best time or just some great early season swims included Celilo Brun, Ava Giordano, Michelle Graves, Faith Ocheskey, Jade Smith and Thea Smith.
