AZOT SENT 32 SWIMMERS TO DIVISION I and DIVISION III CIF CHAMPIONSHIPS

The CIF Division I Championships held at Belmont on Friday, was once again the home of some of the fastest swimming in Southern California. Several meet records and even a national record were broken. AZOT swimmers represented 14 different high schools at the meet! Many AZOT swimmers earned Automatic All-America titles and 11 club records were broken! Irvine AquaZot Swim Club continues to turn out the best of the best. Congratulations to all of the swimmers, coaches, and families of AZOTís CIF Finalists and Champions!

Chris Wong, a junior at University High broke the AZOT 15-16 boys record in the 100 butterfly with his 49.39 first place finish and the 200 IM record with a 1:51.04. Logan Redondo, a sophomore at Capistrano Valley High School broke the 15-16 boys team record in the 200 freestyle with his 1:38.29 first place finish. Jack Descombes, a freshman at Tesoro High broke the 15-16 boys team record in the 50 freestyle with a 21.23. Brock Redondo, a senior at Capo Valley, broke the AZOT boys 17-18 200 IM record with his 1:50.34 first place finish. Garrett Larson, a junior at Corona del Mar broke 2 AZOT boys 17-18 team records. His record breaking 57.78 in the 100 breaststroke earned him a 4th place finish. Garrett then led off CDMís 4X100 relay blazing to a 46.78, which broke the AZOT 17-18 100 freestyle record. On the girlís side, Samantha Taylor, a senior at Capistrano Valley High School, broke the girls 17-18 100 freestyle record earning her a 6th place finish. Samantha also broke the girls 17-18 100 backstroke record with her 54.82 second place finish. Casey Mims, a junior at JSerra High School, broke the 17-18 girls AZOT 100 breaststroke record with a 1:01.74 3rd place finish. Jaime Dang, a freshman at Fountain Valley High School, broke the 13-14 girls AZOT 100 butterfly record with a 56.53 6th place finish.

In the Division III Championships, Brooke Wanser, a sophomore representing Saddleback Valley Christian earned a second place finish in the 200 IM with a 2:08.29 and the 100 breast with 1:05.64. Cameron Price, a junior at St. Margaret's, earned a 3rd place finish in the 100 breaststroke with his time of 1:00.23 and a 4th place finish in the 200 IM with a 1:57.60.
