Tier 2 Swim BC Championships meet - July 6-8, Victoria, BC

Tier 2 Swim BC Provincial Summer Championships Coaching Report

Nine athletes attended the Tier 2 BC Provincial Summer Championships in Victoria July 5th – 9th, 2018. The meet took place at the Saanich Commonwealth Place pool and was hosted by Swim BC. As this meet required qualifying times our top swimmers were in attendance as were the top swimmers for the province of BC.

All athletes competed very well over a very long three-day schedule which had our days starting at 7am and finishing as late as 8:45pm. In attendance were Thomas Bakica, Amelia Barrault, Emma Boyd, Kassua Dreyer, Amelia Ford, Aidan Harvey, Hanna Kingscote, Alex Petriw and in her last meet as a Glacier Bear Cassis Lindsay. For some of these athletes this was the biggest competition they had attended to date.

All our athletes approached each event with focus and gave their best effort. For such a large format and with such long sessions our athletes had to take more time away from the pool to rest and be prepared for their next events.

Performance at the meet was strong and our athletes represented the Yukon well with three final appearances, six athletes with personal best times and one club record broken, Alex Petriw in the 800m freestyle at a time of 9:39.25.

All the swimmers and coach would like to thank the parents for making the travelling to this meet possible, the club board for supporting the coach to attend and Yukon Lotteries for supporting such travel to prestigious competitions.
