Swim BC Age Group Championships - Vancouver

Winter BC Age Group Championships 22-24 February 2019

hosted by Canadian Dolphin swim club, Vancouver, BC

report by Head Coach Malwina Bukszowana

Two swimmers from WGB qualified for this meet:

11 years old Breanna Faulkner and 13 years old Thomas Gishler.

Both young Yukon athletes swam very well improving their best times significantly.  Going outside Yukon to race against faster swimmers gives the athlete a new experience and helps the coach to see what we need to work on.

A few changes have been made in Age Group Championships meet profile. The finals are only in two events 200 Free and 200 IM. In all other events the winner is declared in the heats. The long distance freestyle events (800 and 1500 Free) were removed from the program.

Our swimmers beat their best times in all events. Thomas broke one WGB club record in 400 IM.

Both Breanna and Thomas liked the experience during BC Provincial swim meet and they learned a lot. Now they want to put all this knowledge into practice to work towards improvement for the next big racing outside Yukon.
