30 Whitehorse Glacier Bear members traveled to Victoria, BC to participate in the 17th Annual Pacific Coast Swimming Swim Meet from December 6-8, 2019. This was an outstanding weekend for all of our members. Out of the 30 swimmers, ranging from ages 8-17, there were 206 individual swims and 173 personal best times.

Overall, there were 20 individual finals raced.

Our finalists include: Kale Massie (12), Maddy Mead (14), Mia Barrault (15), Brooklyn Massie (17), Thomas Gishler (14), Thomas Bakica (16), Alex Petriw (16) and Aidan Harvey (17).

11 WGB club records were broken throughout the weekend.

In the males 13-14 category, Thomas Gishler broke the 100m Free (57.66), 200m Free (2:03.76), 400m Free (4:19.99), 800m Free (9:05.25, and 400m IM (4:59.40). In the males 15-17 category, Alex Petriw broke the 100m Free (54.76) and 400m IM (5:08.59); Aidan Harvey broke the 100m back (1:01.40), 200m back (2:15.31) and 200m IM (2:18.45), and; Thomas Bakica broke the 200m Breaststroke (2:32.90).

29 of the 206 swims qualified under the BC age group time standards.

4 swimmers achieved their first BC standard time: Sabine Keesey, Oliver Cull, Kale Massie and Maddy Mead.

Three swimmers stand in BC’s top 20 for their age group: Alex Petriw 50m Free, Aidan Harvey 100m and 200m Backstroke, and Thomas Gishler with 100m, 200m Free and 400 IM (also top 38th in Canada).

Two swimmers stand in BC’s top 10 for their age group: Thomas Gishler 400m free (also top 21 in Canada) and 800m free (also top 13th in Canada), and Mia Barrault 100m Breaststroke (top 5 in BC and top 29th in Canada) and 200m breaststroke (top 5 in BC and top 18th in Canada).
