Today, USA Swimming issued the following communication.
In prioritizing the health and wellness of all our
members, as of March 12, USA Swimming has made the decision to
suspend all our events, camps, conferences, or any occasion that
requires individuals to travel and gather for the next 30
We also strongly recommend that our Local Swimming
Committees (LSC) and clubs suspend all USA Swimming-sanctioned
competitions across the country for the next 30 days.
The PVS Board is taking the USA Swimming recommendation and
suspending all sanctioned competitions for at least the next 30
days. We will revisit this suspension within two weeks or if
we receive new guidance from USA Swimming.
Swim Practice and dryland training is still a covered activity
under USA Swimming Insurance. Clubs and facilities will make the
decision of whether to hold practices or not. Since the virus
stays on the surface for a long time, make sure any dryland
training has the swimmers cleaning up after each use of the
machine. Deck cleaning, locker room cleaning, bathroom
cleaning, wiping down door handles and all surfaces by facility are
important. Anybody that is sick stays at home.
Please continue to take precautions as recommended by the CDC, WHO
and local health departments. If you have symptoms, stay home
and contact your healthcare provider. The health and safety
of our PVS family is important to all of us.
