Group Training Suspended Indefinitely; Evaluating Options

Dear Desert Thunder Families,

As the days of uncertainty led to tighter and longer restrictions on non-essential activities all across lives, the direct impact on the team is that we are indefinitely suspending in-water training and competition. Optimistically, we presented a modified plan to possibly return to training next week. However, it has become clear as this virus has taken a more significant toe hold in certain parts of the country the only course of action is to avoid gathering in any manner, including in-water practices with only a few swimmers at a time.

In lieu of in-water training, we are going to do our best to utilize on-line tools to keep everyone engaged in their overall swimming development. We will offer dry-land workouts, shoulder strengthening exercises, instructional videos with commentary, and I will be referencing the current book I’m reading to challenge everyone to evaluate their manner of pursuing success. This will begin on March 23rd.

The fact that almost every single household on this team is directly affected by the sudden economic downturn, we understand the need to evaluate your expenses in the short run. If you must suspend your membership during this time of uncertainty, we respect and understand. However, if you believe the contact I outlined above is of value, please consider hanging in there with the membership. While payrolls are being significantly reduced there are still General and Administrative costs associated with the team’s existence. Even if you cannot justify the full dues, but can offer a reduced amount, we would sincerely appreciate it.

Between now and March 30th any adjustments to your account status need to be sent to Scott Lathrop at [email protected] . Please do not send account requests to your swimmer’s coach. Only Scott can make the adjustments on your account.

We look forward to getting everyone back together on the other side of this pandemic and look forward to everyone staying healthy and active through this time. Do not hesitate to reach out at any time.
