League Update - May 20, 2020

The Executive Board and team representatives met last evening to discuss the 2020 summer swim season, We have made the difficult decision to cancel our normal dual meet schedule for the 2020 summer swim season.

Teams may still hold practices as they are able, but must follow all requirements and best practices put forth by the CDC, Ohio Department of Health, USA Swimming and their individual club. While the league will not sanction dual meets this summer, teams are welcome to reach out to other teams in the league to have virtual swim meets, time trials, or team challenges if they are able to do so.

In July, the league will "host" a virtual championship meet. Between July 25 and August 1, each team will have the option to send their swimmers times to the league. The league will combine the times into one meet and post the overall rankings. While this isn't as exciting as a normal championship swim meet, we hope that it gives the swimmers something to look forward to. Teams are welcome to give awards for their team, but the league will not provide awards. Swimmers will be able to swim any number of events, but we will not have relays.

This was not an easy decision and I know everyone was disappointed last evening. It became very clear that each team will have their challenges this summer. We hope that the teams can provide some sort of "normal" in the pool this summer for all of our 1200 swimmers.

Please stay healthy and safe. We will look forward to a more normal 2021!

2021 Championships at Miami University is planned for July 23-24, 2021
