2021 Team Registration

(If you know that your swimmer will NOT be returning this summer please let us know by replying to this email ([email protected]) so we can remove you from future registration emails.)

Hi Dolphins!

It's finally time to register for the Louisville Dolphin's 2021 summer swim season! Registration for returning families opens TODAY and closes on April 5th. (Please find our Registration Form Link below Please read this email in its entirety as it contains a lot of information. Please use the same log-in email address you used last year. Do not create another account. Please note that only one account with one log-in email and password is permitted per family. Our Team Fees for 2021 are $255 for Louisville Residents and $280 for Non-Residents.

This email is specific to RETURNING FAMILIES ONLY. The registration link below is for returning swimmers from 2019/2020 and new siblings of returning swimmers. New families should be directed to our website at www.louisvilledolphins.org to complete our "2021 New Swimmer" online form to be placed on our evaluation waitlist pending the outcome of the returning family registrations.

During March 22nd thru April 5th, all returning swimmers can register and be guaranteed a spot on the team. Also during this time you can register new siblings of returning swimmers but they will need to attend a swim evaluation prior to being placed on the team. All returning pre-team swimmers and new swimmers will need to attend this years swim evaluations to determine their 2021 team placement (Blue, Bronze, Silver, 9-10s, ...). This year these evaluations will be held the first week of May at Memory Square Pool. After this registration period, we will begin filling any open spots with new swimmers from our waitlist.

This registration system will populate some of your answers from last years information. Please read each question and answer carefully and make any necessary changes. If there is any incorrect information that you are unable to modify please email [email protected] with what needs to be corrected. We use the information collected from this form for many various administrative uses including your team t-shirt size and medical emergency form! Please double-check all email addresses to make sure they are current and ones that you check regularly. Also make sure all emails are verified. If you would like to receive Team text messages of last minute information including practice cancellations or changes you will need to sign up for this service in your account and member profiles after your registration is complete. Please note that you MUST VERIFY each cell phone number in order to receive messages. You can also double check and update your account information and add any additional swimmer emails and phone numbers at that time.

Once our 2021 meet schedule has been finalized (which may look a bit different this year due to COVID) you will need to go back into your account and sign up to volunteer for TWO JOBS at TWO SEPARATE meets (20 points). Once you have completed this task your swimmer(s) registration will be complete. Pre-Team Swimmer Families are not required to volunteer at our dual meets.

Pre-Season practices start Monday, May 17th and our Regular Season and Pre-Team practices will start on Tuesday, June 1st. Please see our website for complete practice and meet schedules.

Information for new swimmers:

Minimum Swimming Skills Required

Participants must be between the ages of 5 and 18 to register. In all age groups, participants must be able to meet specific skill criteria in order to continue participation in the program. The skill level of each new swimmer will be evaluated in May. If a participant's skill level does not meet the criteria, he/she will have the option of enrolling in the City of Louisville's Learn to Swim Program. Enrollment in the Learn to Swim Program is possible only if space is available. Any swimmer joining the Louisville Dolphins Swim Team must be safe in the water and comfortable in the deep end of the pool. All swimmers, including the 8 and Under Blue team must meet the following minimum requirements:

10 and Under Blue/Bronze Teams

The Blue/Bronze Teams are our developmental teams. These teams are for swimmers ages 6-10 who do not know all of the competitive strokes. It is a place for them to learn swimming skills without pressure. Blue/Bronze Team swimmers do not participate in the regular Saturday dual meets but have the opportunity to participate in several Pre-Team meets of their own during the season.

Criteria: Swimmers must be able to swim 25 meters of freestyle and backstroke without stopping

8 and Under Silver Team

The Silver Team is our competitive team for 8 & under swimmers who have mastered their competitive strokes. The emphasis is to not only improve their stroke technique, but also to improve conditioning and endurance in the pool. Typically, swimmers on the Silver Team are 7 or 8 years of age and have been on the team for at least one season.

Criteria:

  • Continuously swim 50 meters of freestyle and backstroke
  • Correctly demonstrate the whip (breaststroke) kick or the dolphin (butterfly) kick
  • Listening skills and positive attitude

If a swimmer was on the Silver Team during the previous season and is still age eligible, they are automatically on the Silver Team

Criteria for 9-10 and 11-12 Age Groups:

  • Continuously swim 50 meters of freestyle and backstroke
  • Swim 25 meters of legal breaststroke or butterfly

Criteria for 13-14 and 15-18 Age Groups:

  • Continuously swim 100 meters of freestyle and backstroke
  • Swim 25 meters of legal breaststroke or butterfly
