There will be NO PRACTICE on Friday, June 11th.

Beginning Monday, June 14th:

Monday-Friday

Mini Marlins  8-8:35 am
Age Group 2 8:35-9:10 am
Age Group 1 9:10-10 am
Seniors 10-11 am

 


Swim group definitions:
Mini-Marlins:
Swimmers between the ages of 5 and 8 years old.
May be brand new to swim team with little experience beyond lessons.
Practices will focus of proper stroke instruction & diving, as well as teaching the basics of being a successful swimmer & teammate (e.g., meet preparation, team spirit, & proper nutrition).

Swimmers should be able to positively affirm the following statements:  
I can swim one length (25 meters) of the pool without assistance.
I can swim basic front-crawl, breaststroke, or backstroke in order to move in the pool.

Age-Group:
Swimmers between the ages of 9 and 12 years old.
Should have some swimming experience, but not necessarily competitive experience.
Practices will focus on the basic understanding of competitive swimming & work towards transitioning from technique/skill building to endurance & strength training over the course of the season.  The importance of proper nutrition & rest will also be discussed & encouraged.

Swimmers should be able to positively affirm the following statements:  
I can swim two lengths (50 meters) of the pool without stopping using freestyle, backstroke, & breaststroke.
I can swim on the right side of the lane to avoid on-coming traffic (circle swimming).
I know what to expect in a swim meet in terms of starting & finishing a race.
I can dive into the water & I am learning/perfecting turns.
My breaststroke & butterfly are legal (or almost legal) but need technique work.

Senior:
Swimmers between the ages of 13 and 18 years old.
Should have competitive swim team experience (i.e., club, high school, or summer-league meets).
Practices will continue to focus on stroke technique while developing greater levels of speed, endurance, & strength.  More time will be spent of the psychology of the sport & how a proper mindset will enhance race preparation.  Nutrition & rest will continue to be encouraged.

Swimmers should be able to positively affirm the following statements: 
I will set a good example for the younger swimmers on the team.
I can swim at a sprint speed and keep up with practice intervals for my age-group.
I can swim at least four lengths (100 meters) straight without stopping.
I can do racing starts & turns between laps (both legally).
I can do all four strokes legally & complete the individual medley (IM).
