Data supports that indoor pools can be operated safely. New Jersey reported ZERO cases of spread throughout the summer (article HERE) and Oregon has ZERO cases of spread traced to swim teams or indoor pools. The CDC reports that there is no evidence covid-19 can be spread through the water and suggests ways to operate an indoor facility safely; approaches our pools in Oregon were already doing. The Former US Surgeon General states that fitness centers and pools can safely remain open and are more important than ever (article HERE).
Our youth athletes are the ones who are suffering from increased mental health challenges and lack of physical fitness opportunities. Governor Brown has stated the importance of youth mental health by requiring students return to in-person learning as well as recently allowing indoor full-contact sports (swimming is non-contact). Governor Brown said, “the importance of athletics for the physical and mental health of Oregon’s youth athletes,” We couldn't agree MORE!
PLEASE HELP US KEEP OUR KIDS SAFELY IN THE POOL!
