Open tryouts (no open tryouts at this time due to the pandemic)

The club usually holds open tryouts twice a year, in the spring and in the late summer or early fall.

Please check Team Functions on the home page of the club website,, for dates, times and locations of open tryouts.

You may go to the pool any time during open-tryout hours.  Once at the pool, please inform any of the coaches on deck that you are there to try out for the team.

There is no need to notify the team that you will be showing up for an open tryout. You can bring your child at any time listed on these dates.

Please print this Tryout Form, complete it and bring it to the pool to save yourself time. Present it to any coach when you arrive.

You are welcome to email the membership coordinators with questions at [email protected].

See information below for parking information and what your swimmer should expect during a Tryout.

Preparing for tryouts

Parents must be present during tryouts and must sign a tryout form, which acts as a waiver for the club.

Swimmers spend five to 10 minutes in the water. The start time depends on coach availability.

Swimmers should come to the pool ready to swim with suit on, towel handy and goggles adjusted.

Swimmers should be able to enter the pool without assistance and swim at least 25 meters. They should be able to float on their backs and swim at least partially across the pool using freestyle.

A member of the coaching staff will assign swimmers to a practice group at the end of the tryout. LAMVAC coaches consider both the physical and mental readiness of each swimmer.
