Senior Progression

SENIOR: COMPETITIVE GROUP
The Senior Competitive Group consists of predominantly 13 and older swimmers who have the ability, desire and commitment to continue and develop their competitive swimming career with SWIFT Aquatics. Senior Competitive offers 6 workouts per week, and 2 dryland session. Challenging workouts are designed to help our Senior athletes strive toward qualifying for the Regional Championship meet.

SENIOR: REACH GROUP
The Senior Reach Group consists of predominantly 13 and older swimmers who have the ability, desire and commitment to continue and develop their competitive swimming career with SWIFT Aquatics. Senior Discovery offers 6 workouts per week, and 2 dryland session. Challenging workouts are designed to help our Senior athletes strive toward place at the Regional Championship meet and qualify for Age Group and Senior Championship Meets.

SENIOR: HIGH PERFORMANCE GROUP
This is the highest level competitive group that SWIFT Aquatics offers. The Senior High Performance Group is for 13 and Older swimmers who are already at the Sectional level, and whose goal is ultimately to final at Sectionals and/or compete at the National competitions. Our HP group is high intensity, highly technical, and focused on the three main areas of improvement in swimming: Technique, Strength, and Endurance. 6-8 practices a week are offered, and 2 dryland workouts.

Overarching Senior Team Goals
► Strive to be competitive in both meets and practices
► Prepare athletes for both competency at a National/ Sectional/ State level and for movement into 
► To consistently improve commitment level and training/racing ability from season to season 
► Continue becoming more fluid in swimming (no splashing) 
► Actively improve distance per stroke 
► Learn leadership skills  
► Attendance should improve, not decline as the athlete matures 
► Training attitudes should be more productive and supportive as the athlete gets older 
► Attend all meets prescribed by Coaching Staff
► Display ability to train appropriately for the athlete’s experience and stated goals 

Senior Team Accountability
► Swimmer learns to accept the responsibility for his/her performance 
► Swimmer learns coping strategies to deal with peer pressure 
► Swimmer learns coping strategies to deal with parent pressure  
► Swimmer understands and performs personal race strategies 
► Swimmer demonstrates an ability to balance school, social, swimming and family 
► Swimmer can effectively communicate her/his commitment to her/his parent, coach and teammates  
► Swimmer understands the relationship between his/her personal commitment level and results

► SWIFT cap (required for anyone with long hair) 

Swim Meets
Swim meets are held once or twice a month.  Swimmers in Senior Discovery and Reach Groups should attend in, at least, 1 meet per month.  Swimmers in the Senior High Performance Group should discuss with the Coaching Staff their intentions to participate in meets leading to the Championship Meets.
