Letter to Parents

Welcome to the Deer Lakes Aquatic Club Learn to Swim Program.  I am keenly aware that you have many options for a Learn to Swim Program and I appreciate you choosing this program.  My name is Lisa Twidwell, I am the Learn to Swim Coordinator.

We strive to create a program of excellence in this program and we hope your experience will reflect that. We are looking forward to working with your child and helping them to achieve success at their full potential.

The certified instructional team is comprised of many experience backgrounds and they are looking forward to sharing their knowledge of and passion for swimming with your child.  With your support, we can help your child have a very fulfilling learning experience.

Throughout the session, the instructors will answer your brief questions before and after class.  If you have a detailed question for the instructor, please be prepared to leave your contact information.  Your question will be addressed promptly.  I may also be reached at my e-mail address

At the end of the session, report cards will be distributed to all the children detailing their progress.  All children progress at different paces, therefore your child may stay in a particular level for several sessions.  This will ensure that your child has a firm grasp of the skills and components of each level before advancing.

Our teaching is based on the premise that all students can learn to swim, despite any obstacles in their path.  For that reason, your child will receive instruction and support in age and skill appropriate classes with small instructor to student ratios.  We will work very hard to help your child complete all of their goals and objectives as well as the goals and objectives of each level. If you have any questions regarding your child's progress, please do not hesitate to contact the instructor or me.

The Learn to Swim Program is a classroom like any other.  In order to function, it must have rules and policies that ensure fair treatment for instructors and students alike. Included, you will find the Participant and Parent Tips and Guidelines.  Additionally, you will find key objective skills for each level.  If you have any questions regarding the guidelines, skills or assessments, I will be happy to answer any of your questions. Once again, I would like to welcome you and your child to the Learn to Swim Program.  This is going to be a great experience for your child. We would like to thank you in advance for your support and commitment throughout the session.
