Tritons Practice Group Description & Details

T-Juniors:

  • 2 lessons a week (45 mins)
  • In-water Stroke Instruction 
  • Ages 5-8 yrs 
  • Equipment (Kickboard)
Description: Swim team preparation class. Lessons will focus on side breathing in freestyle, efficient kicking and body position on front and back. Strength and confidence building in order to complete 25 free and 25 back comfortably. In water instruction. Will move to TR1 when basic criteria has been met.

 

TR1:

  • 3 practices a week (60 mins)
  • No dryland
  • Ages 10 & Under
  • Equipment (Kickboard & fins)
  • Weekly practice hrs (3 hrs)

Description: Introduction to year round swimming for younger swimmers. Focus is on developing technique in all 4 strokes in addition to introducing the key fundamentals of starts and turns. Aerobic ability and overall strength in the water will be a secondary focus. Rec meet participation is encouraged.

 

TR2:

  • 4 practices a week (75 mins)
  • 2 Dryland practices (45 mins)
  • Ages 11 & Up
  • Equipment (Kickboard, fins, snorkel and jump rope)
  • Weekly practice hrs including dryland (6.5 hrs)

Description: Group is designed for older swimmers looking to learn and improve technique in all 4 strokes in addition to development of overall fitness and aerobic ability. Swim skills such as turns, starts and kick strength will also be practiced. Rec meet participation is strongly encouraged. 

 

TC1:

  • 4 practices a week (90 - 120 mins)
  • 3 Dryland practices (45 mins)
  • Ages 7-11 yrs
  • Equipment (Mesh bag, kickboard, fins, snorkel and jump rope)
  • Weekly practice hrs including dryland (8.75 hrs)

Description: Appropriate for swimmers 11 & under that have a strong base in all 4 strokes along with a good understanding of starts and turns. Focus is on stroke refinement and building overall aerobic capacity. Practices will also include speed work and race development. USA swim meet participation is expected. 

 

TC2:

  • 6 practices a week (90-120 mins)
  • 3 Dryland practices (60 mins)
  • Ages 10-14 yrs
  • Equipment (Mesh bag, kickboard, fins, snorkel, hand paddles and jump rope)
  • Weekly practice hrs including dryland (14.5 hrs)

Description: Group is designed for swimmers working towards age group time standards and higher. Practices will include stroke efficiency, aerobic and anaerobic development, race strategy and test sets. Swimmers are expected and motivated to achieve a high practice and attendance. USA swim meet participation is expected. 10 & Unders are permitted in this group based on the Head Coach's approval and recommendation. 

 

T-Seniors:

  • 7 practices a week (105-150 mins)
  • 3 Dryland practices (60 mins)
  • Ages 12 & Up 
  • Equipment (Mesh bag, kickboard, fins, snorkel, hand paddles and jump rope)
  • Weekly practice hrs including dryland (17.5 hrs)

Description: Top level age group and senior level swimmers that are looking to be competitive and demonstrate a strong commitment to swimming. This includes working towards and achieving New England Senior time standards, Sectional time standards and High School State qualification or higher. Practices will include stroke efficiency, aerobic maintenance, race strategy, speedwork and test sets. A high practice attendance is expected and recorded. USA swim meet participation is expected.
