Injury Prevention

In the winter of 2019, our team was reached out to by a group of Kinesiology students at UMass who are researching and developing techniques for young athletes to protect their shoulders from repetitve use injuries, which tend to be common amongst swimmers.

Our Tritons coaches received in-depth research materials, prevention protocals and risk reduction training. The group also developed a prevention plan appropriate to our swimmers and educated them on strength and flexibility exercises. These exercises have been rolled into pre-practice warm ups and during drylands.

Resources are attachedso you can help your swimmers keep up with these exercises from time to time and be on the lookout for any unusual pain. Our swimmers work really hard and we want to help keep them injury-free.
