Training Group Structure & Qualifying Criteria
Admittance: The swimmer will be selected by PSC Head Coach with guidance and input from PSC Blue/Senior II Coach.
Group Dynamic: The ages of the athlete in this group may be as young as 13 and as old as a post-grad. Swimmers in this group are approaching or have obtained Sectional qualifying times. Senior I is designed for the highly motivated athlete. The goal is to handle 8-10 workouts per week, including intense “dry” workouts. Swimmers in Senior I are committed to achieving Junior National, Senior Nationals, Olympic Trials cuts and participation in International competitions. An emphasis on placing athletes in a collegiate program is of strong importance.
Admittance: The swimmer will be selected by PSC Head Coach with guidance and input from PSC Blue/Senior II Coach. All new first-time year round swimmers will who have already begun their freshman year of high school.
Group Dynamic: The ages of the athlete in this group range 13-18 years olds who have entered their freshman year of high school. Swimmers in this group may consist of Senior athletes that have not met criteria for Senior I or they are first time year-round swimmers or the athlete is committed to multiple activities. Regular attendance at practices is highly recommended. Athletes in Senior II are committed to improving their level of ability and fitness. An emphasis to be promoted to Senior I and possible collegiate swimming will be presented. The ability to make 6 workouts/week will be expected. Opportunities to compete at highest level championship meet possible, including but not limited to Junior Olympics (JO's), Age Group & Senior States, Far Westerns and Sectionals will be presented.
Admittance: The swimmer will be selected by the PSC Senior III Coach and PSC Black Group Coach.
Group Dynamic: Athletes in this group are generally high school and college age. Requirements include communication and accountability. Swimmers are expected to have a common goal of improving. Swimmers should recognize where they are at, and with the direction of the coach find a path for progress. Coaches’ goal for these swimmers is that they will find a commitment to hard training. Swimmer’s skill development will increase, along with their confidence and self-esteem.
