Stingrays group descriptions (guideline only):

Stingray swimmers are divided up into two main groups: Junior (Jr) and Senior (Sr) swimmers. 

  • Additional fees are charged for the following: Swim Meets, Additional Training and Equipment.

The Junior's program for the newer, younger swimmer, is delivered in the wave pool at Millennium Place using lane ropes in the shallower water to aid in the feeling of security.  All new Junior swimmers must attend an assessment when registering.

Junior Stingray Training Groups:

JR1: 1 Hour swimming per week (2 x 30 minute sessions)

Recommended Age: 6-7 Year olds

Best suited to swimmers transitioning from Red Cross Swimming, who are interested in greater skills training.

Annual Training Fees: $520.00 (2019-2020).  Full Year (October to May)

 

JR2: 2 Hours swimming per week (2 x 1 hour sessions)

Recommended Age: 6-8 Year olds

For swimmers that have been previously introduced to Swim club environment swimming and are looking to transition to a competitive environment. This program gets the swimmer ready for the "Big Pool"!

Annual Training Fees: $920.00 (2019-2020).  Full Year (October to May)

 

 

The Senior's program for the stronger, more confident swimmer is delivered in the deep 25 meter lap pool at Millennium Place. These swimmers should be comfortable in deep water and have appropriate skills to progress in this program.

Senior Stingray Training Groups:

The following training categories are basic groupings used by coaching staff to group swimmers together who are working towards common goals. Coaching staff will evaluate the swimming strength of each swimmer and focus on skill building during each training opportunity in the pool.

 

WHITE:  2 hours swimming per week (2 x 1 hour sessions).

7-8 year olds with basic 4 stroke experience and 1-2 years of swimming instruction. Introduction to competition and continuing skill development in a fun training environment. Swimmers are comfortable in the deep water and are swimming for fun.

Annual Training Fees: $1202.50 (2019-2020) Full Year (September to June)

 

RED:  3 hours swimming per week (3 x 1 hour sessions).

8-10 year olds with competitive experience at the introductory level. Developing skill instruction and development of all 4 strokes leading to competitive confidence. Swimmers are introduced to dry land and are learning to train.  Skill development is the general goal of this group.

Annual Training Fees: $1,635.00 (2019-2020) Full Year (September to June)

 

 

ORANGE:  4.5 hours swimming (3 x 1.5 hour sessions) 

​10-12 year olds with a background of competitive training and experience. Training and race preparation, nutrition and testing are introduced. Swimmers are learning self-discipline and learning to train.

​Annual Training Fees: $2015.80.00 (2019-2020) Full Year (September to June)

 

BLUE: 4.5 hours swimming (3 x 1.5-2 hour sessions) plus 2-3 hours of dryland per week.

10-12 year olds with a background of competitive training and experience. Training and race preparation, nutrition, and testing are introduced and developed. Swimmers are self-disciplined and are continuing to learn how to train. Some swimmers will be at Provincial level swimming. Dry land intensity increases along with training session length. Performance incentives and goals are introduced.  This group is expected to attend all training and meets to maintain proper swimming progression.

Annual Training Fees: $2,192.50 (2019-2020) for base Blue group of 5 hrs/week.  Full Year (September to June)

 

GOLD:  6.5 hours swimming (4 x 1.5-2 hour sessions) plus 2.5 hours of dryland per week.

11-14 year olds with mid to high-level competition and training experience. Swimmers are learning to race including mental preparation, race strategy and performing at a high level of training. Gold swimmers will take a greater role in goal setting, team leadership, and mentoring young swimmers.  This group is expected to attend prescribed meets, club events, and training sessions.  Some swimmers are training and competing at Provincial performance levels.

Annual Training Fees: $2,650.00 (2019-2020) for base Gold group of 6.5-7 hrs/week.  Full Year (September to June)

 

BLACK:  8 hours swimming (5 x 1.5-2 hour sessions) plus 2.5 hours of dryland per week. 

Select training sessions may be mornings.

12-15+ year olds.  This group is similar to Gold and is suited for 12 years and older Gold group level swimmers with Provincial experience.  This group's training is similar to Gold with more intense development on swimmers learning to race. These swimmers are advancing towards National level swimming and training expectations will increase with age and experience.

Annual Training Fees: $2,900.00 (2019-2020) Full Year (September to June)

 

TOP AGE GROUP (TAG):  10 hours swimming per week (6 or more x 1.5-2 hour sessions) plus dryland. 

Select training sessions may be mornings.

13-15+ year olds with Provincial level training and competitive experience.  This group develops swimmers training focused on Provincial and National level competing and racing.  Swimmers are preparing to advance from the Provincial Age Group category (14 years and under) to the Provincial Senior category (15 years and older).  This group requires a very high level of training focus and self-discipline.  Swimmers will require appropriate time management and social supports.

Annual Training Fees: $3,150.00 (2019-2020) Full Year (September to June)
