2017/2018 Age Group Program

 

Age Group 1 (AG1):  Festival / Regional Development (12-16 Athletes)

9.5 Hours in the Pool / 1.5+ Hours of Dry-Land

This is a group designed for the top younger swimmers in the club and teenagers who aren’t yet at the Senior level. Everyone must be willing to work towards achieving Regional and Festival times. It is expected that these swimmers stay focused and complete any task set by the coach. Every athlete must attend at least 7 swim meets, including a minimum of 3 out of town meets. This group is the main stepping stone into the Senior program. All skills must be performed on a consistent basis. This group will have at least 2 lanes available for them at all times. Swimmers are encouraged to have an attendance percentage over 70% and should be attending at least one weekday morning practice, but preferably both. All athletes must have their own kick board, pull buoy and fins (plus paddles and snorkel by the new year).

Monday:

     -         4:15-6pm + 6:05-6:30pm (Dry-Land on Deck)

Tuesday:

-         5:20-7am

Wednesday:

-         4:45-6:30pm + 6:35-7pm (Dry-Land on Deck)

Thursday:

-         5:20-7am

Friday:

-         4:15-6pm + 6:05-6:30pm (Dry-Land on Deck)

Saturday:

-         7:50-10am

 

 

Age Group 2 (AG2):  Regional Development (12-16 Athletes)

6 Hours in the Pool / 1 Hour of Dry-Land

This is a group designed for swimmers who are keen and willing to work towards qualifying for Regionals. The athletes will steadily improve on all aspects of every race. Basic skills will be performed regularly in order to prepare for meets and group advancement. These athletes will vary in age, but be roughly the same speed in the water. The coach will ensure there is a good mix of fun and work so all athletes can both enjoy themselves and continuously drop time. These swimmers are expected to attend at least 6 meets throughout the season, including a minimum of 2 out of town meets. Two lanes will always be available for this group. All athletes must have their own kick board, pull buoy and fins.

Tuesday:

-         5:15-7pm

Wednesday:

-         6:30-8pm + 6-6:30pm (Dry-Land on Deck)

Friday:

-         5:45-7pm

Saturday:

Age Group 3 (AG3):  Competitive Development (14-18 Athletes)

4 Hours in the Pool / 30 Minutes of Dry-land

This is a group designed for swimmers who are climbing the competitive swimming ladder. The main focus of this group is to improve skills and endurance. These athletes will be a mixture of ages, all around the same ability. FUNdamentals will be the main focus, but these swimmers will be working towards advancing from the novice level. These swimmers are expected to attend at least 4 meets throughout the season, including one out of town meet. Two lanes will always be available for this group. All athletes must have their own kick board, pull buoy and fins.
