This is the top group in CRKW, with swimmers in this group working towards their National Standards and being selected for specific Swim BC and Swim Canada teams. Swimmers in this group have shown a huge dedication to the sport by organizing their school schedule to accommodate their practice schedule, with practices starting at 1:45pm each day. Swimmers in this group are continuing to develop their technical and tactical skills, with a large focus being on training to perform at peek meets throughout the season. Attendance at all training times and a commitment to the full meet schedule is mandatory at this level, along with being able to manage school commitments without significant and ongoing misses to the training program. Dedication, commitment, consistent work ethic, and a desire to excel are all traits that will help swimmers to be successful at this level of sport.
-Graduation from the Provincial Black program
-Swimmer must have organized their school schedule to be able to attend practices that start at 1:45pm every Monday-Friday.
-Swimmers in Provincial Gold have 3 AAA provincial qualifying standards or are AGN/Western National qualified.
-Swimmers need to be in either highschool or university to take part in the Provincial Gold program.
-School and academics must not be an issue for swimmers in this group
Expectations of swimmers:
-Swimmers are held to the expectation of attending all of the training sessions, as well as dryland sessions throughout the week.
-Swimmers are aiming for their AGN or Senior National Standard, and are continuously aiming to becoming one of the top swimmers in the province and country.
-Swimmers are committed to attending all camps, swim meets, and social events that are offered throughout the season.
-Swimmers are committed to attending all of their championship meets of which they are qualified for.
-Swimmers are committed to making lifestyle choices that support their training schedule and level of performance that they would like to achieve
-Swimmers are commited and responsible for their own success at this level, by coming to every session ready to train, improve, and have fun! Swimmers are excited to excel, and are working towards taking the next step in their swimming journey.
-This is the top group in the club, and swimmers in this group must be ready to practice and perform like the top swimmers they are striving to be.
Expectations of parents:
-Make sure to have your swimmer at the pool on time with all required equipment.
-To contact coach if swimmer will be missing practice or event.
- Stay informed on upcoming events by checking the website, bulletin boards, as well as talking to your swimmers coach.
Required Gear and Equipment:
Goggles, cap (for swimmers with hair past their ears), one piece swim suit for girls, and a jammer or brief speedo for boys. For swim meets, swimmers should have all of the above equipment, plus their CRKW t-shirt, as well as team jacket is needed for swimmers representing the club at AAAs, AGNs, and Senior Nationals. Swimmers are also recommended to have a CRKW swimsuit for competitions, or a plain black one-piece suit or jammer. A racing suit is also recommended for use at focus meets throughout the season. In their equipment bag swimmers need their own flippers, snorkel, pull-buoy, and paddles. Having their own kickboard is optional.
Swimmers in Provincial Gold practice 7x per week, with each practice consisting of 15-30 minutes of activation, plus 1.5-2.0 hours of pool time . Swimmers are also expected to attend all dryland sessions that are scheduled throughout the week. Meet schedule will be available at the beginning of the season to help families better plan their year.
