The Competitive Swimming Performance Awards are a time based rewards system. The times for the awards are consistent with developing towards Swim Alberta provincial levels of competition. When higher levels of the awards are reached there is a good chance that swimmers would qualify at provincial levels of competition. It is important however that swimmers also acquire good skills in strokes and starts, turns and finishes of the strokes.
Each swimmer will be provided with their own personal awards chart at the start of the season to track their progress. Individual will then awarded a stamp for achieving a time standard on any individual stroke and for individual medley at Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond levels. Once all times have been achieved in a particular level a sprint, Middle distance and distance badges will be awarded. The time standards are fixed and do not vary with age or gender.
Swimmers will be able to use times achieved at any competition throughout the year. If a time standard is achieved then a copy of the results for that event, with the swimmers name and time highlighted, should be presented to a member of the coaching staff for a stamp. When all the stamps in a level have been collected, swimmers will qualify for the badge which will be available from the office.
It is the swimmers responsibility to get a copy of their times to the coach to then receive a stamp and/or a badge.
